Description

The Post Office and Old Post Office consists of two houses that were formerly a coaching inn, likely built in the late 18th to early 19th century. The structure is made of plastered cob and rubble, featuring a rubble stack with a 19th-century brick chimney shaft. The roof is partly covered with slate and partly with corrugated asbestos, and it may have originally been thatched.

These adjoining houses have a two-room plan and face south-west, with The Post Office located at the left (north-western) end and the Old Post Office at the right (south-eastern) end. There is an original lobby entrance behind a two-storey porch towards the left end, along with a large axial stack that serves back-to-back fireplaces and a second axial stack located to the right of the center. The building has two storeys and an overall six-window front, featuring various late 19th and 20th-century casements, most of which have glazing bars. The ground floor window at the right end (the Old Post Office) has late 19th-century margin panes that contain coloured glass.

A 20th-century glass-sided porch is present, and the original lobby entry to the left of center is now disused. The gabled two-storey porch has a plain outer opening with a flat head and benches along each side. The lobby appears to have never had an external door. There are disused doors on each side, including a late 18th-century two-fielded panel door on the left (The Post Office). The Post Office is now accessed from the left (north-west) end. The interior features plain carpentry details where exposed, but the roof has not been inspected.
