Description

Greens Toft is a house that was later used as a post office. It likely dates from the late 17th century, with 18th-century and later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and has a stone slate roof. It features a three-unit baffle-entry plan and is positioned at right angles to the road. The house has two storeys and an attic.

On the south-east front, there is an external brick end stack to the right and a brick ridge stack off-centre to the left. The gabled dormer, located off-centre to the right, has a 2-light small-paned wooden casement. The first floor contains three windows, while the ground floor has four windows, all of which are 2-light small-paned wooden casements with wooden lintels. There is a 19th-century four-panelled half-glazed door situated between the second and third windows from the right, accompanied by a lean-to porch. To the right of this door is a later inserted 20th-century half-glazed door. The second ground-floor window from the left likely indicates a former doorway, as suggested by the straight joints beneath it. There are also further straight joints to the left-hand ground-floor windows. The right-hand end bay is probably a later addition, as indicated by the straight joint.

Inside, the building features spine beams, and the left-hand ground-floor room has a curved corner fireplace.
