Description
West Hanney Post Office is a house that was formerly a post office, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th century. The building is rough-cast, likely over stone rubble, and features a stone slate roof on the lower portion, with old plain tiles on the ridge area. It has a large brick chimney stack positioned to the left of center and another ridge stack to the right of center. The original layout is probably a three-unit lobby-entry plan. The house is two stories tall and has a five-window range. There is a six-panel door located to the left of center, which is framed by an open-pedimented wooden surround. The windows include 16-pane unhorned sashes on the ground and first floors to the left and left of center, and two-light casements on the ground and first floors to the right and right of center. The interior has not been inspected.
