Description
This building is a linhay located approximately 40 metres north-west of Chaffcombe Farmhouse, dating from the 19th century. It is constructed of cob on rubble footings and features a slate roof. The linhay is open-fronted and faces north, built into the hillside, with a ground floor used as a cartshed and a loft above. It has four bays, classified as Alcock's Type T1, with loft crossbeams that are tusk-tenoned into full height posts. The front of the loft is unusually high and is supported by a series of braced slender upright slats. The roof is gable-ended, and there is an entry to the loft in the right end wall that leads directly from the field. This linhay is included for its group value as part of the approach to Chaffcombe Farmhouse.
