Description

Chaffcombe Cottage is a cottage, likely dating from the 17th century with an 19th-century extension. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with stone rubble stacks topped with 20th-century brick, and a thatched roof to the original cottage section and corrugated iron to the extension. Originally a single-room plan cottage facing south, it has a stack at the right (east) end. A single-room extension is set back from the front, also with an end stack. The main block has a two-window front with a variety of late 19th and 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. A ground floor door on the left likely obscures the original front door. A slate-roofed oven projection is located at the right end, and the original chimney shaft has been extended in the 20th century. The extension features a single 19th-century casement and a part-glazed panelled door to the left, alongside a 20th-century glass-fronted conservatory across the front, with its own gable-ended roof. The interior has not been inspected.
