Description
1 Barnfield Crescent is a building dating from around 1840, constructed by Dr. Thomas Shapter. It is designed to harmonize with the adjacent buildings numbered 2 to 6. The structure is made of red brick with stucco bands and stands three stories tall, featuring four windows. A continuous cast-iron balcony supported by cast-iron brackets is present on the first floor. The ground floor has round-headed windows, while the upper floors have sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance includes a six-panel door with an attractive fanlight and sidelights. The roof is not visible due to a parapet. Inside, the building boasts marble reliefs and chimney pieces. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 1A and 1 to 6.
