Description
Nos 27 and 28 Southernhay East are a pair of late 18th century, three-storey buildings made of red brick. They feature a central entrance with a three-centred arch and have burnt headers in the brickwork, along with modillion cornices. Some windows have shutters, and while No 27 has had its glazing bars removed, No 28 includes small iron balconies on the first floor. Both buildings boast attractive doorcases with fanlights and fluted entablatures, and they have six-panel doors with raised and fielded panels. The roofs are slate, and there are railings present. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 15 to 28, Nos 30 to 36, Nos 38 to 40, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and Nos 45, 46, and 52.
