Description

Paragon Court, dating to around 1830 and refaced in 1853, comprises a range of 24 houses originally constructed of brown brick. The ground floor is stuccoed and rusticated, although seven houses have been subsequently refaced with brown roughcast. The building is four storeys high, with a basement and an area. Each house has three windows. A continuous cast iron balcony with a hood is present on the first floor of numbers 2 and 3, but missing from number 9; the glazing bars have been lost. A later, off-centre porch features a curved pediment displaying the legend "Paragon Court," supported by two and a half columns and two square pilasters of a modified Ionic order, with festoons draped down the columns. Cast iron spear railings and lamp brackets are situated outside this entrance. Numbers 2 and 3, alongside numbers 1 to 24, form a cohesive group.
