Description

Number 1 (Drupes Cottages) and Rose Cottage are a pair of cottages that likely date back to the 17th century but were largely rebuilt in the late 19th century. The front wall features plastered cob on stone rubble footings, while most of the rest is made of plastered late 19th-century brick. The cottages have brick stacks topped with late 19th-century Rolle Estate chimney pots and thatched roofs.

The left cottage, No. 1 Drupes Cottages, has a two-room plan, while the right, Rose Cottage, has a one-room plan. Both cottages are two storeys high and have end stacks, with the right stack shared by No. 2 Baileys Cottages. The front has four windows, which are 20th-century replacement casements with glazing bars, arranged in a slightly asymmetrical layout. Each cottage has a 20th-century plank door with a window and concrete steps leading to the road. The roof is gable-ended and rises higher than the adjacent barn on the left and Baileys Cottages on the right.

The interiors show only late 19th-century details, as they were modernized in the 20th century, and the beams are unchamfered. The roof was not inspected. These cottages are part of a group that includes the barn and Nos. 1 and 2 Baileys Cottages.
