Description
Dairy House Farmhouse is a farmhouse that probably dates back to the 17th century. It is built of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th century brick, and a corrugated iron roof that was formerly thatched. The house has a three-room-and-through-passage plan and faces southeast, with the inner room located at the left (southwestern) end. The inner room features a projecting rear lateral stack, the hall has a front corner stack at its upper end, and the service end room includes a large projecting front lateral stack. The building is two storeys high and has a regular but not symmetrical four-window front made up of 20th century casements without glazing bars. A 20th century plank door leads to the passage, positioned slightly right of centre. The roof is gable-ended. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey, but the layout suggests that some early features may still be present.
