Description
Mocha Cafe is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall on Prospect Place, adjacent to Prospect Cafe. The three-storey section features three windows on the second floor and two large French windows on the first floor, all within architrave surrounds. It has a tent roof balcony supported by trellis and a fascia cut in a trefoil pattern. The ground floor has splayed bay windows, one of which is modern.
The two-storey corner block facing the Esplanade is likely an older structure that has undergone significant alterations. This section is also stuccoed and has a steeply pitched hipped slate roof with boxed eaves. It has two windows facing Prospect Place, with a later balustrade on the balcony that lacks a canopy, continuing around the corner. The ground floor has been modernised. The Esplanade side features three large sash windows on the first floor, along with one rectangular bay and dormers, while the ground floor has modern casements. Despite these changes, the building maintains a suitable scale.
Mocha Cafe and Prospect Cafe are part of a group with the Beach House located on the Esplanade.
