Description

No. 4 York Terrace is part of a terrace constructed around 1810, similar in design to No. 3. The building was altered subsequently. It has a two-window, three-storey stucco front, with a cornice and parapet. The roof is slate, in a Mansard style, and incorporates two dormers. The second floor has recessed sash windows. The ground floor has French windows with ornate, blind surround panels. A Tuscan-style verandah extends across the front of the ground floor, with a later turned wooden balustrade acting as a balcony to the first floor. The ground floor is rusticated, featuring two windows with glazing bars to the upper sashes, and flat arches with incised voussoirs. The original entrance door has been replaced with a bay window featuring a moulded cornice. A wooden balustrade is present between the verandah columns. Nos. 1 to 12 York Terrace form a group.
