Description

16 Mill Street is a disused school building dating from around 1810. It features a rendered exterior, likely over stone rubble, and has a slate roof. The structure is rectangular, with the master's house facing the street and the schoolroom located behind it. The street front is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a central door that has a flat hood above it. There are plain two-light wooden casement windows. The schoolroom is notable for its four tall mullion and transom windows, each with 24 panes, and it includes two gabled stone porches designated for boys and girls. The overall roof is hipped, with a central stack. This building holds historical significance as the first Public School in Sidmouth.
