Description

A pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Longmeadow Road in Lympstone. The cottages are built of brick in a Flemish bond pattern and have gabled-end slate roofs. Each cottage originally comprised a single room, with later extensions to the rear. Each cottage has its own axial stack for heating. The front of the cottages features a four-window arrangement on each elevation; the upper windows are 16-pane hornless sash windows, while the ground floor windows are 16-pane sash windows. Both cottages have front doors with canopies supported by shaped brackets. The cottages are included on the list for their group value, particularly in relation to Elmside, Bass’s Orchard, and Lavender Cottage.
