Description
This building is a shippon with a loft over, constructed in the late 19th or early 20th century, reportedly before the First World War. It is located about 25 metres northeast of Combe Farm Farmhouse, positioned at the rear of the farmhouse across a narrow yard. The structure has an L-shaped plan, with the south block being rectangular and featuring a smaller block at the east end and a flight of external steps at the west end.
The exterior is a lofted farm building made of stone rubble with red brick dressings and a tiled gabled roof. The symmetrical three-bay south front has two gables, with red brick jambs, sills, and segmental arches for all openings. It includes a large central doorway flanked by windows and two first-floor loading doors. The single-storey block to the right has a doorway and a small round-headed window with bars. The left side features external steps leading up to a loft doorway. The rear block is constructed of brick with buttresses, containing two loft doors and seven windows, all with segmental arches. The interior has not been inspected. The building has group value with Combe Farm Farmhouse.
