Description

Buddlewall Farmhouse, which includes an adjoining outbuilding to the north, is a farmhouse dating from the early 16th century. It features stone rubble construction and a thatched roof with gabled ends, although the rear is clad in corrugated iron. The building is two storeys high and has a long range of five windows. The windows are a mix of 19th century and modern two and three light casements, some of which have glazing bars. There is a central recessed doorway leading to a cross passage, which has a panelled door and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. The gable ends have brick chimney stacks, and there is an off-centre ashlar ridge stack with a capstone.

The short outbuilding wing, which is at a right angle to the northeast, is also constructed of stone rubble and has a half hipped tile roof. Inside, the farmhouse features jointed cruck trusses and a timber framed chimney stack that has been inserted. The ceiling beams are stopped chamfered, and there is early 17th century panelling along with an ovolo moulded doorframe that has carved stops. A chamfered timber bressummer is present above the open fireplace.
