Description
Wadbroke is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 16th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a thatched roof with half hipped ends. The building is two storeys tall and has an L-shaped plan, with a lower one-storey and attic wing on the right (northeast). The facade has a long range of three to four windows, which are casement windows with 20th-century artificial stone frames. To the left of the centre, there is a plank door with a 20th-century thatched roof open porch. The farmhouse has ridge chimney stacks, with the left stack made of ashlar and featuring a moulded cap, while the right stack is brick. The building is positioned at right angles to the road.
Inside, there is a truss that is partly concealed, likely of the jointed cruck type, in the main range. There may be an inserted floor with a moulded timber ceiling and possibly an inserted chimney that includes a large open fireplace with chamfered stone jambs and a chamfered timber bressummer. The interior also features a cross passage with a plank and muntin screen and stopped chamfer ceiling beams. The northeast wing contains jointed cruck trusses.
