Description
Fordwater is a house dating from the 16th century, constructed of roughcast stone rubble. It features a thatched roof with half-hipped gable ends that are topped with stone coping. The building has two storeys and a long range of four windows. The windows are 19th-century moulded wood mullion and transom types. There is a glazed door located off centre to the right, which is sheltered by a thatched porch. The house has rendered chimney stacks at both ends and on the ridge. At the rear, there is a short central wing that also has a hipped thatched roof. Inside, the house boasts jointed cruck trusses. There is a stone rubble outbuilding attached to the front left side of the house, which is flat-roofed and is said to contain jointed cruck trusses as well.
