Description
Tytherleigh Manor Farmhouse is the surviving wing of a former manor house, dating from around the 16th century. The east wing is all that remains of the original structure, which likely extended to the west. It features a stone rubble construction with dressed stone quoins and flat window arches that include keystones. The steeply pitched slate roof has stone coping at the gable ends, with the south gable end topped by a finial. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a long range of six windows, which now contain modern casements in small openings. The central doorway features a similar flat stone arch with keyblocks, a moulded door frame, and a modern plank door. Two of the ground floor windows have been replaced with French windows. The south end of the building has been recently extended by one bay, and there are brick chimney stacks at the ridge and ends, along with a later outshut at the rear. Inside, there are stopped chamfer ceiling beams and an open fireplace in the south room, which has a chamfered timber bressummer with shouldered ends.
