Description

CLYST HYDON AUNK ST 00 SW 2/16 Gate piers and gate approximately - 150 metres east of Ratclyffe GV II

Gate piers and gate. Circa 1830. Wrought iron. The gate leads to the main drive to Ratclyffe (q.v). The piers are round-headed and have a wrought iron acanthus motif above ovals fixed to the stiles by small circles. The gate is original and the horizontal rails are braced by curving struts. The centre vertical includes a cast boss. The top rail curves downwards and the end stiles rise above and bend over to scrolls.
