Description

Clyst Hydon Bridge is a road bridge over the River Clyst, built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed blocks of local grey-coloured sandstone, featuring purple-coloured conglomerate stone ashlar voussoirs and a dripcourse. The underside of the arch is made of brick. This small bridge has a single span with a low segmental arch that springs from vertical abutments. At road level, there is a plain projecting dripcourse that follows the ramp of the road. The plain parapet has rounded coping and curves outwards at each end to terminal piers that project externally.
