Description
Gates and gate piers, probably from the early 18th century, are located about 30 yards north-north-east of The Old Rectory. They are made of wrought iron and finely cut red and grey sandstone. Each gate has two leaves, which are divided into two pairs by a horizontal scrolled band positioned about a third of the overall height. The upper sections feature a cross motif with a scrolled surround in the center of each leaf, while the bottom sections have wavy dog-bars. The overthrow includes a central sun in a scrolled gable topped by a flame finial. The gate piers are square in plan, slightly chamfered, and have cornices with pyramidical cappings.
