Description

The Forge, including the implement shed adjoining to the southeast, is a cottage dating from around the 16th century. It is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble and features a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building stands two storeys high and has a three-window range, with 19th and 20th-century casement windows. An off-centre round-arched plank door is set in a heavy round-arched chamfered timber doorframe, with a similar doorframe located at the opposite end of the cross passage at the rear. Brick ridge chimney stacks are present.

Inside, the cottage has two pairs of jointed cruck trusses, stop-chamfered ceiling beams, and a fireplace bressumer. The adjoining implement shed is a single-storey structure with a tiled roof and an open front, also made of stone rubble. This shed is included in the listing for its group value.
