Description
Nos 10 to 17 Sid Lane are a row of early 19th century cottages, possibly dating back to the 18th century, that were altered around 1840. The cottages are two storeys high and have a rough cast finish, which may be over cob. They feature gable end slate roofs. Nos 10 and 17 have projecting gabled bays, with No 10 showcasing barge-boards and a finial. Each cottage has one or two windows, which are 2-light glazing bar casements. Most of the doors have been altered, but No 16 is notable for its fine lion head knocker. An interesting feature of No 10 is a small octagonal pavilion that extends from the west side of the front, constructed with flint rubble walls and topped with a crenellated parapet. It also has a pointed doorway and a false painted clock. Nos 10 to 17 Sid Lane form a group with Sid Cottage on Sid Road.
