Description

Sidcliffe is a stucco house dating to circa 1840, originally a single residence but now divided into flats. It exhibits picturesque decorative details. The building is characterised by a very low-pitched gable end slate roof, ornate shaped bargeboards, and fascias extending overhanging eaves. The west front, three stories in height, overlooks the River Sid and features one low-pitched gable. It has three-light casement windows on the first floor with four-centred arched lights and marginal glazing. The first floor also contains two-light Gothic French windows with diamond pattern and marginal glazing, set within moulded surrounds and leading onto bowed iron balconies of a diamond pattern. A central two-story canted bay incorporates similar French windows and balconies to the first floor, along with sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor. Due to the rising ground level, the south front is two stories high and includes a tent roof verandah with ornate, traceried iron supports that return around a central two-story canted bay. The south front windows are similar to those on the west front, with all ground floor openings being French casements.
