Description

Woodhayes Cottage is a roadside cottage, likely dating from the 18th century and renovated around 1960. It is built of plastered cob, possibly with stone rubble footings. It has a stone rubble stack topped with 19th-century brick and a thatched roof. The cottage has a small, two-room plan, facing north, with the larger room located to the west and a gable-end stack. It is two storeys high. The front has a symmetrical appearance with two 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. A central front doorway has a contemporary, gabled porch and a 20th-century panelled door. The roof is hipped at both ends. Internally, the cottage largely reflects 20th-century modernisation; the crossbeam in the main room is boxed in, and the fireplace has been blocked. The roof structure was not inspected.
