Description
Middlecoombe Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone footings and features a hipped thatched roof. There is a brick gabled-end extension with a corrugated-iron roof. The cottage has a two-room, cross-passage plan and includes an external left-hand stack, along with a later 19th-century internal rear lateral stack that heats the right-hand room. The building is two storeys high.
The front of the cottage has a symmetrical arrangement with three windows; the first floor features 18-pane horizontally sliding sash windows with wooden sill guide pegs, and there are similar windows on either side of a narrow central door that is partially panelled. At the rear, there is one first-floor casement window and two ground-floor casement windows, both from the 19th century. The exterior also includes low brick buttresses. The interior has not been inspected.
