Description

This is a pair of mid-19th century buildings located on Stallard Street. Constructed with an ashlar front, they are joined to number 9 on the left side. The buildings feature pilaster strips on either side and in the centre, along with a plinth and a band above the ground floor, with mitred detail over the pilaster strips. The slate roof has coped verges and a central ashlar stack. There are four windows on the first floor; the outer windows are blind with indications of former sash rebates, while the inner two have glazing bar sashes. The ground floor windows also have glazing bar sashes. Doorways are situated on either side, with simple surrounds to flush panelled doors. The rear of the buildings is constructed of red brick. Number 8 has a three-light weavers' casement window on the first floor. The buildings are part of a group that includes numbers 5 to 9, with number 9 holding local interest.
