Description
The workshop at the rear of No 58 Stallard Street is a building from the middle to late 18th century. It is two storeys tall with a basement, constructed of red brick with stone quoins. The workshop is positioned at right angles to the main house and features a double Roman tiled roof that is half hipped to the west. Most of the windows on the southeast side have slab surrounds, with one flush window on the first floor and three raised windows on the ground floor that have a moulded outer edge and beaded inner edge, fitted with glazing bar sashes. There are various casement windows, including one with a timber lintel on the first floor to the left. The gable has a chimney located to the left of centre. The lower ground floor includes a blocked segmental archway and a doorway to the left, along with a modern doorway to the right and a blocked window to the left of it. On the northwest side, there are four glazing bar casements. This workshop, along with Nos. 50 to 58 Stallard Street and the principal Factory and Handle House at Studley Mills, forms a group of historically significant buildings.
