Description
The retaining wall bounding the west side of the Home Mills Complex dates from the early 18th century and is likely built on medieval foundations. It is constructed from limestone rubble with some brick dressings and features limestone coping. The wall extends from the north corner of the building and curves north for approximately 80 meters before turning sharply east for a short distance. It stands about 5 meters high and has a parapet that ramps up towards the north end of the north-south section. There is a large blocked opening at the north end of this section. The 19th-century buildings that are situated on and against the wall are not listed. This wall is part of the bailey of Trowbridge Castle, which has a medieval origin.
