Description

COURT STREET 1. 5411 (North West Side) The Chapel, (Offices of Samuel Salter & Co Ltd.) ST 8557 6,7/19 II GV

  1. Dated 1823. 2 storey entrance front to road. Ashlar stone with rusticated ground floor treatment, angle piers, string at 1st floor level, moulded coping. Central pedimented break. 3 arched windows on 1st floor, the centre large with recess. 2 similar windows on ground floor; all with glazing bars. Central double 8 panel door with plain arched fanlight and wide doorcase of engaged Doric columns and entablature with triglyph and rosette frieze. Shaped panel inscribed in raised letters "Samuel Salter and Co. Ltd. Estd, 1769". Formerly Bethesda Baptist Chapel, 3 bays long with 2 bay lower extension at north end.
