Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century commercial building with an ashlar front. It is three stories high, featuring slim pilasters on either side. To the left, the building is slightly set back, with a projecting astragal cornice mitred over strips and a parapet above. There are five bays of glazing bar sash windows. A band runs above the first floor, and a moulded string is positioned above the ground floor, which includes a plinth and two modern shop windows. A tall doorway with a raised surround is located to the right. A wide, segmental archway with channelled rustication and a panelled key is on the left. A mid-19th century brick building, linked as an extension, is at the rear and rises four stories. Numbers 1 to 9 Fore Street form a group.
