Description

The gates and railings to No 68 on Fore Street date from the 18th century. The main front features central wrought iron gates that have arrowhead rails and dog rails, supported by square panelled cast iron standards with diagonal and quatrefoil infilling. The panels are adorned with a honeysuckle pattern at the top, and there are tall cast iron urns. The gates have a curved head.

These gates and railings, along with Nos 65 to 68, Nos 70 to 73, the dwarf stone wall to No 72, No 64 (Lloyds Bank), and Usher's Brewery Corner Block, create an impressive group with No 8 and the premises occupied by K.J. Lestor to the southwest of No 8 Wicker Hill.
