Description
This is a late 18th or early 19th century building, originally numbered 9 on the Parade. It is built in a style similar to the adjacent building at number 8. The front is painted ashlar, with three storeys and two windows. A deep moulded cornice and parapet with a cope, along with cill strings and corner pier strips, divide the facade horizontally and vertically. Late-glazed sash windows are present on the second floor, and a shop front dating to the late 19th or early 20th century occupies the ground floor. A doorway is located in an extension to the right, beneath a moulded, ramped cope. The building forms an outstanding group with numbers 65 to 68, 70 to 73, the railings and gates at numbers 68 and 70, the dwarf stone wall at number 72, number 64 (Lloyds Bank), and the Ushers Brewery Corner Block on Fore Street.
