Description
The building, dating to circa 1814, is a stone-faced, adapted Gothic structure. Initially the Sainsbury Corn Stores, it is a two-storey 'L' plan building, with a gabled break to the right rising to three and a half storeys. A wooden shop front connects the corner of the gable and the main section. The building is constructed of small coursed ashlar with large quoins. The gable end features horizontal bands to the second floor and over the windows at attic level. The gable end windows are grouped; there are two in the attic, three to the second floor, three to the first floor with transoms, and a label with carved stops and carved panel brackets to the cill. Two paired windows are present on the ground floor, linked by a continuous label. The main section incorporates a niche to the left, now containing a later crucifix, and a five-light mullion and transom window to the right. The roof is covered in ridged Roman tiles with a crested ridge.
