Description
No 73 on Fore Street is an 18th-century building that stands two stories high with an attic. It features painted stucco on its exterior, a projecting plinth, flat eaves, and a stone tile roof. There is one dormer and two brick chimneys located on the ridge. A lead rainwater hopper is positioned at the angle with No 8 Wicker Hill.
The first floor has two windows with raised surrounds and no glazing bars, while the ground floor has one similar window. To the left, there is a six-panel door with a plain rectangular fanlight in a raised stone surround. This door is supported by cut scroll brackets that hold up a flat stone hood with a modillioned soffit, which is an unusual design. The main part of the house is located behind No 8 Wicker Hill. The front features pitched paving, and the back of the house is partly constructed of brick in English bond, with two tall brick stacks set in the gables. There are two raised window surrounds remaining, one for a paired window on the first floor and one for a similar window on the ground floor that has lost its mullion.
No 73, along with Nos 65 to 68, Nos 70 to 73, the railings and gates to Nos 68 and 70, the dwarf stone wall to No 72, No 64 (Lloyds Bank), and Usher's Brewery Corner Block, form an outstanding group with No 8 and the premises occupied by K.J. Lestor to the southwest of No 8 Wicker Hill.
