Description

Habberley is an early 19th-century house located at the end of a row in Mere Water Street. The building is constructed of squared and coursed stone, with the stone graded to smaller courses at the upper levels, featuring large greensand quoins. It has a slate roof and brick gable stacks. The house is L-shaped, with a symmetrical street façade of two storeys and three windows. The ground floor features 16-pane sash windows flanking a six-panel fielded and part-glazed door, which is sheltered by a flat timber hood supported on wrought iron brackets. At the first floor, two-light casements with small panes of glass are positioned on either side of a recessed blind opening. The rear of the house has a two-light casement at the first floor, and a three-light casement in its wing. Ground floor windows retain panelled shutters. A glazed conservatory is situated in the angle of the building. The north gable is plain. This is a well-preserved house, largely unaltered compared to the other buildings in the row. It stands opposite The Grange.
