Description

Cobden House and Amberley are two houses dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, featuring an ashlar front and stone tiled roofs with coped gables, end wall stacks, and a ridge stack. The buildings are two and a half storeys tall. Cobden House has a formal double front with two dormer gables, moulded cornices over the ground and first floors, raised side strips, and a moulded plinth. It includes two 16-pane attic windows with cornices above, 16-pane windows on the main floors, and a central blank 2-light flush cyma-moulded window over the door, which is set in a raised moulded surround with a hood supported by carved brackets. The door is from the 19th century. There is also a 19th-century parallel rear range.

Amberley, located to the left, features one dormer gable and a two-window range below, along with a moulded plinth. The attic has a 2-light flush cyma-moulded window with a dripstone, while the first floor originally had two 2-light recessed hollow-moulded mullion windows with dripstones, one of which has been altered for a 19th-century sash window. The ground floor has a 19th-century sash window and door in a chamfered surround with a hood on brackets. There is a fragment of a dripcourse to the left, and a lean-to at the north end, along with a 19th-century parallel rear range.
