Description
Littleton House is a farmhouse that has been converted into two flats. It dates from the 17th century, with early and later 18th-century and early 19th-century elements. The building is constructed of greensand rubble, brick, and has a rendered front elevation, topped with a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has an 'L'-shaped plan, featuring a central shorter rear wing from the early 18th century and a parallel block likely added in the later 18th century at the rear.
The front of the house has three wide bays, with the central bay slightly set forward. This bay contains a central six-panelled door topped by a decorative fanlight, all within a round-headed arch made up of two recessed orders. There is a plat band above the door. The ground floor features large tripartite 12-paned sash windows, each with segmental recesses above, while the upper floors have paired 12-pane sashes. The central bay is gabled and has gable stacks. The left rear wing includes a large end stack and 12-pane sash windows, along with one leaded dormer. The central rear wing boasts a stone-mullioned tripartite window with raised stone surrounds and quoins. The roofs are hipped. The interior has not been seen but may be of interest.
