Description
The lodge to Market Lavington Manor House, built in 1904 and altered around 1965, is likely designed by Arthur Martin. It features Flemish brickwork and a tiled roof, and is arranged in an 'L' shape over two storeys. The lodge is attached to gate piers and has been extended at the rear in a style that matches the original construction. The entrance is located in the re-entrant angle at the back of the left pier, leading to a glazed porch with a lean-to roof. The front has moulded stone mullioned windows in a canted two-storey bay, while other windows are timber with leaded glazing and are topped with a tile arch. The gables are tile hung and sprocketed, providing hoods over the first-floor windows, and the eaves have shaped rafter ends. The roof is also sprocketed and features a central ribbed brick stack. A small square cartouche on the front displays the initials CA (C. Awdrey) and the year 1904.
