Description
Russell Mill House is an 18th-century house that was refronted in the late 18th to early 19th century. It features English garden wall bond brickwork and a 20th-century tiled roof. The house has two storeys and attics, with three bays. The left bay and the return along the road are remnants of the earlier structure, which has been incorporated into the new approximately symmetrical facade. Inside, there is a central stair hall plan with flanking reception rooms. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with a fanlight in a round arched opening. The windows are sixteen-paned sashes that have been renewed, and they are topped with gauged brick lintels. The eaves are dentilled in brick, and there are external gable stacks. The roof is hipped and features two rebuilt gabled dormers. A wing on the left side contains a stair and extends three storeys to the rear, with a quarter hipped roof that was extended in the 19th century. The house was undergoing renovation in December 1986.
