Description

The Howell monument is a chest tomb located about 7 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St. James in North Wraxall. It dates from around 1800 and is made of pennant stone. The tomb features two rectangular plaques on each side and an urn positioned between them. It has lyre ends adorned with husk drops, as well as a moulded base and capstone. The inscriptions commemorate R. Howell, who died in 1737, and R. Howell Jr., who died in 1777.
