Description

The Gilbert Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, approximately 3 meters south of the chancel. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of Portland stone. The tomb features a slightly hipped table and a moulded base. The side panels are decorated with Greek key end margins and have a recessed panel that bears an inscription dedicated to Thomas Gilbert, who died in 1807, and Ann Gilbert, who died in 1814.
