Description

The Gilbert Tomb, located about 6 yards north-east of the tower of the Church of St Mary in Shipton-under-Wychwood, is a chest tomb dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features oval side panels with corner enrichments, as well as enriched end panels. The tomb is topped with a cornice and ridged capping, following the bale tradition.
