Description
The Old School House, likely built around 1855 by G E Street, served as a schoolmaster's residence. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a Cotswold stone roof. The design is logical and economical, featuring domestic Gothic detailing and distinctive tapering end chimney shafts. The building is arranged in an L-shape and has one-and-a-half storeys. The front facing the road has three windows on the ground floor; the central one was originally a doorway, and the right-hand window is framed by a relieving arch. Two gables are visible at the rear, with the right-hand one projecting and incorporating a lean-to porch over the entrance, which has moulded surrounds. An attic dormer is present in each gable.
A low, battered drystone garden wall, approximately 3 feet high, connects with the north-west boundary wall. This north-west wall is similar in style to the boundary wall of the churchyard and is constructed of coursed rubble with weathered capping.
