Description

Linden Grove is a house dated 1720, with an extension from the 1820s, located on Silver Street in Calne. The house is constructed of painted squared limestone with a brick gable and a slate cross-gabled roof. It has a single-depth plan and is of a late Georgian style, presenting as two storeys and a basement with a four-window front. The building features a right-hand gabled cross wing and steps leading to a 20th-century half-glazed front door, sheltered by an early 19th-century wrought-iron tented canopy. The windows are sash windows with 8/8 panes on the ground floor, and smaller panes on the first floor and in the basement; they feature fine bars. The interior contains early 19th-century features, including a rear, lateral dogleg staircase.
