Description

Vine House is a house built around 1720, with an extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed from dolomitic conglomerate rubble with dressings, featuring brick end stacks and a slate valley roof. The house has a double-depth plan and consists of two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a six-window range in an early Georgian style. The right side of the house is symmetrical and has a central doorway, while the left side is an extension in the same style, complete with a moulded cornice and parapet. The entrance features a half-glazed door within a 20th-century porch, and there are small 4/4-pane sash windows with thick glazing bars. The left extension includes larger 8/8-pane sash windows. To the right, there is an outshut. Inside, the house has a large part-flagged hall, a dogleg stair with stick balusters and turned newels, an elliptical arch leading to the first-floor front room, shutters, and panelled doors.
