Description

Four Patient monuments are located between 5.5 and 8 metres south of the Church of St. Mary. These monuments date from the early to late 18th century and are made of limestone. There are two chest tombs designed in the same style, featuring two fielded panels on the main sides, with end panels that are either recessed or shaped, and fielded pilasters along with pulvinated friezes on the moulded flat tops. The northern chest tomb has an inscription for Elizabeth Patient, who died in 1775, while the southern chest tomb commemorates Jane Patient, who died in 1795. Adjacent to the east are two body tombs; the southern one is inscribed for William Patient, who died in 1714, though the inscription on the northern body tomb is illegible.
