Description
The Bell Inn is a late 17th-century inn with a 19th-century rear extension, located on the east side of Wylye High Street. It is constructed of rubble stone and dressed limestone, topped with a tiled roof featuring brick stacks and coped verges. The building has a baffle-entry plan and is two stories high with three windows. There is a 20th-century door to the right of the center, a 12-pane sash window to the right, and two 9-pane sashes, along with a blocked doorway and a three-light cast-iron casement to the left. On the first floor, there are three three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. The right side of the building features a two-light casement in the attic. To the left, there is a single-storey 19th-century extension with a casement window and a planked door. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with two-light casements and a coped verge. Inside, the inn has two open fireplaces; one features a plain lintel on stone jambs, while the other is blocked and has a chamfered lintel with rounded corners on stone jambs.
