Description
Wylye Place is a rectory that has been converted into a private dwelling, built in the early 19th century. The building features a combination of stuccoed flint and limestone, topped with a hipped roof made of Welsh slate and brick stacks. It is two stories high and has a three-windowed east front, which includes a slightly projecting gabled center bay. The central entrance consists of double doors with traceried glazing bars set within a Tudor-arched opening that has a square hoodmould. There are diagonal buttresses on either side of the entrance, along with 12-pane sash windows with hoodmoulds in the side bays. On the first floor, there are three 16-pane sashes, each with hoodmoulds. The left side of the building features tripartite French windows on the ground floor, while the first floor has 12-pane sashes with hoodmoulds. The right side is constructed from dressed limestone and flint and also has 12-pane sashes. The interior and rear were not accessible during the survey in September 1985, but it is reported to contain Regency fittings, including stairs with stick balusters, reeded fireplaces, and window shutters.
